I checked out the Marketplace when the Airports became available, and I was totally shocked at the sticker prices some guys are asking for their airports. Some of these cost more than a used car and seem a way bit extreme and to the point of ridiculous. I think some guys are trying to get rich off the sale. There should be some limitation to keep it within reason.
I see it a bit differently. In an open marketplace each owner has the right to set the price they feel reflects the value of their asset. Many of those prices are not about “getting rich” but about what the owner is willing to accept to part with something they will lose forever. FOREVER
…Every airport is unique. Some have sentimental value, others are iconic in real life, strategically important, or simply airports the owner has invested time, effort, and history into. That personal or strategic value doesn’t always translate into what others are willing to pay—and that’s okay.
Seeing a high price in the marketplace does not bother me. On the other hand, it tells me how much that owner appreciates their airport. In the end, the market decides: if the price makes sense, someone will buy it; if not, it will stay listed. Freedom to price assets is part of what makes a marketplace healthy and realistic.
A little side advice … if you are selling an asset list it with a very high price then edit it when you are 100% is the right asset you wanted to enlist, seen some errors on listing and people loosing their planes and airports.
I see it differently too. You purchased the asset for $400 and now trying to sell it for $5,000 sounds a bit extreme. Nobody should ever get that attached to a digital asset. The idea of being able to sell and trade is to promote activity within the marketplace. Those looking to get into owning an asset can be easily discouraged. Placing assets in the marketplace at absurd pricing does nothing for the community. To pay even a few hundred dollars for assets isn’t always that easy with the economy we are in.
I think you did. Go buy my assets
Dont understand the fuzz… setting rediculous price does not mean it will be ever sold (noone is that stupid to pay this much for something that technically doesn’t even belong to you if you read ToC here).
Does your used car generate worth or loss?
Is an used car an investment to get potentially even more money?
Should an used car be compared with an investment asset?
Are people evil, who want to get a fair price for their asset?
I do not think so.
Does the market regulate itself by supply and demand?
I know.
Honestly as a matter of fact, a used asset in simfly is a lot more worth it than a used car.. the more it flys, the more is used, the more is better. It’seven a shame that if I put on sale my license, i can’t use it. If it grows while on sale, if i could fly with it, it would be more convenient for a future user that will buy it ( if I don’t modify the price..).
Greetings.
I believe thousands upon thousands of active users are needed. Currently, there are only 1,700 accounts, many inactive and many belonging to a single person. So, if the land is small, there will only be a few trees and, consequently, little fruit. First, a large land comprised of thousands upon thousands of people is needed; that is the real challenge now for SimFly and the community, and I think it will take quite some time. Only after that becomes a reality will it make sense to manage asset prices.
What I would like to see instead, is a better a reasonable offer. Example.. why should I buy a lv1 cadet license with 0 xp at 40 pax more than the one available in the regular marketplace?(when available) so that’s why some users don’t want that simfly makes available assets on the usual market ? So anyone can “shoot” a very high price, forcing a user to buy it?![]()
Are we forcing them to buy or to abandon the project? We must consider that some get discouraged and leave.
I’m speaking from my own experience; for example, my Cat7 planes are worth more now because they keep leveling up, and the same goes for my licenses. But if I were to list my assets at what I consider a fair price, taking into account everything they’ve cost me, I think more people would be disappointed than motivated to buy. In other words, we need to give the community time to develop properly. I can’t expect a child who’s great at riding a bike to suddenly become a skilled driver of a truck; the time will come when they can.
Well if you put an asset on sale, the growth stops. You or me are selling an asset that has grown until I put it on the market..at that moment the growth stops.
example. my cat3 license lv 10 has reached an experience due to my flights.. what did it cost me? Well besides the actual let’s say 79$ (if not purchased with discount) I flown 260 hours of my “precious” time, mainly with AP on while cruising, gaining 12.817 XP points.. and roughly earned let’s say a bit less than 1pax (totally, airport gain, landing, ecc) per hour.. with that license (asset) 12.817 xp equals 168 pax. What were other sacrifices a user can have, in order to justify an eventual very very very high price that I see in the market? I put my license on sell at 300 just because I will actually earn less considering, tax, simfly percentage, the final converting fee from usd to euro, and so on.. so I just thought about making a value of 1 euro for every hour flown. So if I actually sell it, I might get around 250/260 € .. i hope. I suppose its a fair price..
That’s right, I agree. However, with time and experience, moving up a category will be much more expensive. I’ve already seen it with my most valuable assets. I hope to take them to the top and then try to sell some. But it’s much more costly. When that time comes, I’ll have to do the math, and I’m sure my price will scare more than a few people, which is why I prefer not to do it so early, especially in such a young market.
Because it is clear of stats and you can build up just by yourself. Iam sure some player will value that more, than a ruined statistic by a player before they sold.
