Looking for a distinctive visual flying destination in the Austrian Tyrol?
Reutte–Höfen Airfield, ICAO LOIR, is located in the Lech Valley and surrounded by Alpine terrain. The airfield permits VFR traffic only and requires prior permission, PPR. It has a 679 × 18 m asphalt Runway 04/22 and an elevation of 2,807 ft.
Careful planning is essential. During Foehn conditions, pilots should expect possible turbulence, horizontal wind shear, severe downdrafts and unexpected tailwind, particularly on short final to Runway 22. High obstacles and power lines are also located east of the extended runway centreline and within the traffic circuit.
Review the weather, NOTAMs, aircraft performance and PPR requirements before entering the valley.
Short runway, confined valley and potential Foehn turbulence. Prior mountain-flying preparation recommended.
