Lajes AB, ICAO LPLA is a Portuguese military and civilian airport in the Pacific Ocean. It is the first airport pilots encounter during an ocean crossing from the United States to Europe. Aircraft with technical problems make emergency landings here, including an Air Transat 236 Airbus A330 that made an emergency landing in 2001 after a 20-minute glide with both engines off. It would be nice to organize a mission departing from Toronto Pearson International Airport and heading to Lajes AB.

Beautiful airport, I landed there last week in Nicostan, but my flight route said it was in the Atlantic Ocean and not the Pacific. Maybe it's a clone in the antipodes that ended up over there in the other ocean.😁🙏🏼🤣🦾☝🏼
