Bring Back Airport Discounts

Now that the user marketplace allows for the sale of airports, it is my understanding that SimFly intends to halt airport discount sales (or make them very rare). The rationale being to protect the resale value of airports that have already been purchased by pilots.

I think this overly cautious and a mistake.

In the same way that no one gets upset when new aircraft are introduced at a discounted price, airports could be judiciously placed on sale in limited quantities. Since each airport is unique, (just like each airframe is unique) I think limited/target sales would be welcome.

Examples:

  • All Australian category 4 airports at a discounted price
  • Airports in a region not highly visited within game (for example Africa or New Zealand)
  • Limited number - these 20 airports are on sale

As I am sure you are aware, SimFly bank sales are an important driver of PAX token value and the market becomes stagnant when there is nothing compelling to buy.

Limited/targeted sales strike a nice balance between protecting existing purchase value while providing incentive to buy PAX to complete those purchases.

Hi Kyndra,
thank you for your feedback. I’d like to clarify that airport discounts will not become rare. Unlike licenses and aircraft, whose dynamics are largely driven by the supply currently available in the user marketplace, airports are unique assets. For this reason, they allow us to apply more predictable and targeted strategies compared to other assets that are currently more influenced by user-market supply.

As you rightly point out, the uniqueness of airports enables us to implement selective discount policies, always within a controlled framework that allows us to properly manage PAX Token supply and demand within the user marketplace.

That said, we appreciate the suggestion. It’s important to note that every pricing decision follows predefined rules and internal logic established by SimFly, designed to keep the system as balanced and sustainable as possible. We are not stopping discounts; however, now that the user marketplace exists, it is necessary to be more cautious and carefully choose the right timing to introduce them.

Our goal is always to maintain a healthy balance between supply and demand, encourage proper circulation of PAX Tokens, and—as you may have noticed—also support their reduction (burn) within the system. In certain periods, the absence of discounts directly serves this purpose: purchasing an airport at 100% results in a higher PAX Token burn compared to a 50% purchase. For this reason, the recent decision not to apply discounts was also tied to this logic, while we prepare to introduce—as previously mentioned—features that will make these mechanisms more automated and predictable.

In conclusion, discount decisions are the result of multiple strategic considerations. We are fully aware that applying discounts encourages a more active PAX Token trading environment within the user marketplace, but this is not the only factor we must focus on. It is essential to consider the entire economic context in order to maintain a proper balance between PAX Token circulation, supply, and demand. For this reason, the right time to apply discounts is approaching, as the objective we had set is now almost achieved.
As always, we will keep you informed in a timely manner.

Thank you again for your valuable suggestions—they are greatly appreciated.
