Prevent flights outside the aircraft's own range

Currently, if the “unlimited fuel” option is used — as is available in MSFS2020, for example — the flight report detects it and applies a 5" penalty.

It would be a very effective way to end transoceanic flights with small aircraft by replacing this “No fuel consumption was detected – Penalty Deduction: 5” condition with the inability to earn pax tokens or XP.

This has already been done with the 20-minute limitation, so I believe its implementation could be immediate.

Thanks

I have to recognise that I tried that behaviour. My Cessna 172 is the only airplane I’ve got and my level does not arrive to handle airliners. I am not happy to do so and I agree to fix this kind of rules and promote a more realistic flights. I just wanted to test it.. I’m sorry. Aligned with the idea of closing the gap to find a nice SimFly.

Hello @MaNaZaS and @falcon.FL380 we are already working on this. The functionality is actually partially ready (cancels the mission, while we want to just give penalties), and we will need to parametrize each single airplane (we will do this with the community based on votes)

I believe these parameters should not be subject to voting. Parameters like ranges, consumption, and so on are defined by the manufacturer.

In any case, if you want, users could vote on the allowed margin of error — 1%, 3%, 5%, etc.

no don’t do this thing of preventing out of range flight is vital. do you know how many times with the cirrus sr22 I happen to run out of fuel and set the mixer to 35%? I increase the range of the range and I manage to land without crashing to the ground. how many times has it happened to me to turn off the engine in flight to glide for a few miles to save fuel. I would come see you if you find yourself in a bad situation with little fuel what do you do in flight? you have no alternative.

because you are against small planes I remind you that in reality there are Cesnas that go from Florida to the USA. and they reach as far as Paris in France.

I’m thinking of small aircraft, where the abuse is much more noticeable. And I don’t fly airliners. I fly GA. A Piper PA-24 Comanche to be exact.

Just to keep the math simple: if your aircraft has a manufacturer-stated range of 1000nm — and let’s not forget that maximum range is based on the most optimal conditions — (what you can do with a simulator is another matter entirely).

If a 5% margin over that maximum range is allowed, we’re talking about 50nm. I think that’s a significant distance, enough to save a flight where you’re low on fuel and use fuel-saving techniques.

If you need more margin than that, maybe you’re planning flights that are too long. No one in real life plans a flight right at the edge of their maximum range. In a simulator we’re not risking lives or millions of dollars in aircraft, so we aim for the longest possible distance to maximize benefits — but that’s not how things work in reality.

Fortunately in simfly you can land in any airport if you are short on fuel even if you planned to go somewhere else. Small planes do a sort of trips, bigger one do others, why should I plan to go from USA to Europe with only one long trip? Make more flights if you want to stick with one small plane. Otherwise rent a bigger one..obviously we need a limit, not everyone flies following correct manners.

As you like artificial intelligence to answer you questions such as the circuit patterns , here is what it says about the cirrus..
The Cirrus SR22 has a maximum range of approximately 1,049 nautical miles. It can also reach a maximum range of 1,100 nautical miles, according to another source.
The SR22’s maximum cruise speed is 183 knots. It has a service ceiling of 17,500 feet and a climb rate of 1,200 feet per minute.
The SR22T, a turbo-powered variant, can reach a maximum range of 1,248 nautical miles. It has a maximum speed of 201 knots and a certified ceiling of 25,000 feet.

So just stick to these..

How about instead of penalizing of outside of aircraft range, rewarding with extra bonus for sticking with fuel / range, making people who want to stick strictly with the real life rules happy, and letting others - who want to earn PAX with their small aircrafts at same time. In my opinion there is to many restrictions already. Using license to make PAX only for 1 hour a day is one of them. With all due respect, please remember we came here to have fun and if anybody wants to create restrictions - feel free to do it on Your own and stop forcing those restrictions on others.

Maybe users can suggest instead of a “penalty” for those who want to fly transoceanic routes with a cessna, just not giving pax and xp if they go way above the airplane range. As you said, we should be here to have fun, and maybe not worry always about earning. As you can read many other old posts, especially on discord, a lot of users talk about realism. So in your opinion, how can simfly avoid flights that go over the aircraft range? And why should simfly not try to avoid behaviors that can really be stopped, other than other types of behaviors that don’t guarantee a full control? By the way, flying within normal and logical flight rules, such as sticking within the aircraft range, should be a normal behavior, why should give a prize for a behavior that everyone should have . Give a prize for something “special” maybe, that could be an idea. But honestly, giving a prize to behave as “normal” or to be “fair” and honest, it’s not that right. In my opinion obviously. :vulcan_salute:

‘Normal’? ’ Fair’? What are we talking about? This is a game. If You want to ‘feel like a real pilot’ set up Your own restrictions in Your sim. If You are a pilot already, why would You want to feel like You are ‘working’ after work? Why would You really want to force anything on others at all? Seems like most of the suggestions are against having fun, forcing to pay more $ to progress. Besides to begin with, using a license to earn PAX only 1 hour a day is ‘normal’ and ‘fair’? Is it according to ‘real life’? Relying on others to set ‘60% share’ when planning is another thing. It already feels like ‘You are not allowed to do this, You are not allowed to do that’ - You are not allowed to have a fun the way You want. But You are ‘right’ - lets make some more restrictions and force others to follow them, when You can simply follow them by Yourself if You wish to.

If its just a game, why bother to gain more pax against others users? You can fly as you want even not using simfly client. If you accept to fly with simfly, you accept eventual rules. Don’t forget that this is not a final product yet, many things can change, even eventual penalties can be removed or introduced. It’s all gradually evolving, not always in the good manner at first, but its going on. Just that.

DeMoLol, Do you know what Simulation means? But as you said to @antonio.ferrara. If you want to feel like a Billonaire, set your own rules at your home and get a lot of PAX doing all u want.

You can fun as you want but then find the place created to fun as you like, don’t go to a simulation game to ask they change rules to give you the arcade game you want.

And if you are here beacuse think you will left your job flying here and earning pax you are too confused. Pax are made to buy other assets or buy some beers if you monetized them, but not to pay your new lambo.

Come on, man! I was already booking my villa in the Maldives, cruising around in a gold-plated Lambo. And now you’re telling me it’s more like… a Citroën C3?

Citroen?? 30 years Old Lada Niva as most.
And forget about the Maldives — at most, you can ask @capodieci to rent you a room in Bali.
