Hi Kyndra,
I know this might seem a bit confusing, and I’d like to clarify that we’re already working on a new interface that will display the timers in a clearer and more intuitive way.
The 84-hour timer is definitely not useless — even though it might seem that way at first glance. It was carefully designed for several reasons, mainly related to maintaining SimFly’s internal economic balance and giving real value to pilot licenses.
This system actually gives real value to progression: as you upgrade your license, both limits — the 24-hour and the 84-hour ones — are significantly reduced, which increases your earning potential in PAX Tokens and XP, since you have more minutes available. In this way, the license itself, once upgraded through the different Ranks, becomes an even more valuable asset, especially from a resale perspective.
To better understand this, think about it this way: if only the 24-hour timer existed and the limits were simply reduced with each upgrade, a pilot who flies an average of three hours per day would no longer have any real incentive to upgrade their license — aside from the percentage increase in PAX earned. The time-limit unlocks, especially the 84-hour one, are much more meaningful and beneficial, as they allow pilots to complete more flights with more available minutes.
We also know that those who want to go beyond these limits can simply own multiple pilot licenses — which is perfectly legitimate. This will further boost activity and movement on the User Marketplace, especially for higher-rank licenses, generating even more trades and interactions between users.
And one last point for those who aim to grow their Pilot License and maybe sell it in the future: if we removed the 84-hour timer, very few would have a real reason to buy a higher-rank license. The main advantage, in fact, is precisely having fewer limits on the 24-hour and 84-hour timers — something that can be achieved through commitment and continuous upgrades. This gives real value both to the PAX Tokens spent on upgrading and to the dedication of those who fly consistently to reach that goal.
Finally, it’s important to remember that there are several factors and a long-term vision behind these logics. Even if some mechanisms may seem complex, unnecessary, or not immediately clear today, over time they’ll prove to be more balanced and rewarding — especially for those who consistently grow their assets.
Here’s a preview of the new 24-hour and 84-hour timer interface, which will of course feature different visual states depending on the situation and the timer’s progress.
